That is a most amazing model. I am really enjoying seeing all those photos.  Thanks for your time an effort to do this.
The trouble is that it makes us all want to be twenty or so years younger, so that we had the time to put into practice all we have learned!

Happy to think you are enjoying the ride along while I fix up the old girl, Alan.

I know what you are saying.

I have been slow to realise  that there are only so many planes left to build. As you say, to be twenty years younger now knowing what we know ... wow, wouldn't that be something?

An old sage and friend at the age of 90 once said that you should treat each day as if you are going to live forever.

That is a good philosophy in my book.

Thanks for the Temora Classic video clip update.

Ken

Ken,
I don't know if living each day as if you're
going to live forever is the best way to look at it.
One might waste to many days that way.
Maybe live each day as if you only had a few left.
Or maybe a compromise between the two...

Whatever floats your boat, at 88 my deal is do as much as I can for as long as I can, and don't get all wound up by things you can't control.
Some days are chicken, and some days are feathers, but that just how it is.

Was tempted to get the ARF version of one of these but seemed to be a lot of chatter about CG, thrust lines all out etc and having sen one spin in at Tin Can Bay warbirds a few years back I thought better of it.

They are ugly as sin but very in your face, "ow's yer father" attitude that I like in a model.

All  can do is lurk for the moment, shed is now packed.  Not bad for two 2 days work on me own.  Yeah I'm a maniac! Probably why I am single as energy levels too high for most to put up with.

I'd love to be able to emulate your litho metal work skills. Shocked Clap

We had one of those ARF Lysanders in the Club. Phoenix Models? It was an awful looking thing. I hardly know where to start! But the most obvious was the length of the nose. Cricky ... like an elephants trunk .. it went on forever. Uggg.

"Ugly as sin" you say ! If I want to see ugly I consult my mirror and then go back and reconsider what I have just seen that I thought was ugly! Try it.

Good work with the packing !

As for litho plate workings ... it is a job for the simple minded; it keeps us amused for hours.

That ugly, ungainly, heavy look is what gives it character!
Now I'm not saying the guy who built it is a character b/c we've never met...

'Had forgotten to mention it. The above publication is with out doubt in my humble opinion the definitive work on Lysanders overall.
It is out of print but you can still find the odd copy. Mark you when I bought mine about 14 years ago it was $60 AUD. I have seen them for as much as $600 USD but I did find a used copy for a mere $210 USD about 4 years ago when hunting for a friend.

The back office ... spies corner ... is unchanged and still in good nick. Even the radio under the back shelf is up to muster.
The huge fuel tank ... you can just see the back end corner in the top pic on the RHS up top ... is also in pristine condition. No work to do there.

I made the glass/carbon spinner cone from a plug, and Stan, and old friend of mine (recently passed) made the cone nut and back plate.
The spinner had a nasty starter rubber groove in it. That has just been filled, sanded, primed and painted. Funny set up where it is on the front of the propeller.
The two props that have been run forever, both wood, one 32 x 18 and the other 32 x 14 have been painted black after a good rub down (with safety yellow tips) and balanced.

The Moki 215 has been run up before I did any work on the plane ... except for the props. There was an unaccepted level of vibration at top rpm which was 4400 on the 32 x 14. On inspection I found that the backing plate was crushed and split ! The whole works had to come to bits for a thorough examination. The plate was useless and thrown in the bin. A new one was made with carbon matt reinforcement. Extra bolts and T nuts were added to the plate as well.

"Tea time" which is silly talk for coffee and Blueberry muffins. Colombian straight goes well with them.
