Finally made a start on a 144in. 1/6 Sikorsky S-38. I still haven't decided whether to go go with a pair of 26cc gassers or electric. As the motors are slung between the wings on struts I think electric would be better.

Dave, I hope you'll run a construction thread on the S.38. That will be an incredible model to watch go together.

Speaking of the S 38, I was in the Monterey California area a few years ago attending the historic races at Laguna Seca.  On my way back to the motel one evening, I was driving with the sun roof open and heard a sweet sound of twin radials.  I looked up and there was an S38 with the animal skin paint scheme flying over.

I can't remember if it was the giraffe or zebra scheme (old age setting in).  Anyway, it was an absolutely wonderful experience seeing it fly over.

Definitely post a build thread.

Dave,

Get PhotoRazor, it's free and resizes all your pic's for the site.

Cheers.

I am going to build a 1/3 scale Lavochkin LA-9 this winter...which is our summer!!LOL I am currently hunting documentation especially the three views. It will be 128" span and 111" long. Have a near to 17" cowl and 8.5" wheels and a 7.0" spinner.

Anyone got a 3 views of this Russian?

I built my Westland Lysander last "winter". It was 1 to 3.7 scale with a 162" span and wound up weighing 63 lbs. Flys great with the RCS 215cc radial.

I must try a build thread. Bit of a worry not having done a thread before.

Ken

Beautiful Lysander, Ken!

Yes, you should do a build thread.

Cheers, Nigel

Thanks for the kind words, Nigel.

When I get my act together and if and when I find enough docs on the LA-9 I shall try a build thread. I have son Chris (Tassie Devil....the Do 335 nutter LOL ) to help point me in the right direction.

Ken
