I feel a need to explain why this poll was created. I suppose I thought that would be obvious...but as usual I assumed less would be more than enough.

The JLB poll is MAC's process tool to narrow/reduce the number of Jack Lynn Bale plans to permit us to focus on all the detail parts, and physical "differences in later revs of a design". In the case of multiple revs as seen in the U-2A/B through to the R, RS, and today's S (Senior Span). We had to decide which, other than the A and B we were going to offer in the many revs of the "C" which led to the Senior Span.

There is a natural evolution of each design Jack drew plans of. The plans, some of which are nearly 30 years old, can easily be back-filled showing the greatest or most detailed rev across the plane's timeline. Otherwise, we would not be able to offer but a few designs for all the downtime required for all the revs. Sam and I chose the best of to place in the poll.

The original Jack Lynn Bale design "details" were in the form a vacuum formed clamshell, panel, or attachments vs. having to be made out of whatever the builder chose to make them out of. To our knowledge, the only original JLB vacuum form plugs (plaster of paris) somehow made their way to Canada.

Because MAC has chosen to offer improved, enhanced, and enlarged versions of JLB designs, the original vacuum form plugs are of no value...thirty (30) years downstream. MAC is capable of producing proper vacuum form, fiberglass, CNC laser, and bit/blade cut details to fit as required on upgrades to the JLB original designs/plans.

As a result of the JLB poll RCSB subscriber preferences immediately became MAC's task list/workorder. The first product for sale are all the original Jack Lynn Bale "cleaned up" plans shown on the "yet-to-be" published JLB section of the current MAC web site. It is impossible for the two of us to create examples of each subject you/we have chosen to offer for sale.

Yes, the plan(s) you select to prototype build will be FREE. We ask only for a photo walkaround of the constructed and finished model...and
if you want...contribute occassional pics of your build progress & flight to be posted within the MAC, reseller websites, and videos on YouTube

MAC will support each prototype builder with .stl printable~millable files of detail parts for each plan you prototype build...Free of charge.

Each prototype builder constructing to completion & flight of a Jack Lynn Bale plan will be attributed as prototype builder in the legend area

MAC will attribute creators of additional details for each Jack Lynn Bale plan design in the legend area of the Jack Lynn Bale plan it has been

Developed too late during WWII to be implimented, the V-173 is an extremely short takeoff and landing low aspect ratio designed for the US Navy...requiring no catapult for takeoff and minimum rollout after trapped by a cable. The flight you just watched was flown during an FAI scale contest in Germany. Maneuvers were traditional vs. the tight maneuvers the v-173 was designed for.

We are developing the 4th design level of the V-173...the XF5U-4...the top performing rev developed by Vought...but cancelled in favor of the Jet Age. This is a twin 4 offset blade proped configuration.

I will print an enlargement of the Jack Lynn Bale V-173-1 plan. Aside from CAD extractions I have from existing CAD.
We do not have standdown time to create a radical new planset estranged to Jack's.

If someone would like to build either the V-173 or the XF5U we would provide documentation and plan resources for
the build along with printed and formed components to a prototype builder...Free Of Charge.

Sadly I build at the pace of a paralyzed snail, and would not be able to present a finished model in anything approaching a timely manner. But I'm definitely intrigued by some of the models listed! Haven't voted just yet, but I see some models on the previous page that aren't in the poll (the F4F-3 & Firefly for example).

I realize that most of the scale folks prefer *big* models (and I agree they're awesome to see), but I'm happy to see some scale options in the 60"-80" wingspan size!
