Hi, Guys!
RCSB Newbie here.  I am a 6-year RC flier and a member of Charlotte Aeromodelers Club. Been a model builder since 1952 and I have done rubber-, glow-, Jetex-, electric-, and insect-powered planes using control-line, free-flight, RC, and tether.  I build with balsa and other common modeling woods, bamboo, foam and foam board, carbon fiber, cardboard, and stuff that you can find laying around.  As a kid long ago, I even built a short-lived plane from spaghetti and linguini pasta (pre-cooked, of course). I have been designing planes for over 65 years, and now use AutoCAD instead of pencil, pen, and ink with triangles and T-square.

I haven't yet built a large, detailed, Scale model as my means are meager since retiring, but I dabble with smaller planes such as the Guillow's Giant Scale (31" wingspan) Vought F4U-4 Corsair that I'm currently building and converting to electric 4-channel RC.

I hope to learn a lot of new-to-me techniques, get leads on scale plans (which I collect in PDF files), and marvel at the hard work and ingenuity of the modelers here.

Hey DM welcome aboard this fantastic site! You will find all you need to learn here and if you dont someone will help you along! Check out the Tutorials and Beginning scale tabs at the top of the page. Funny, I will be moving to the Charlotte area (Waxhaw) in a few short years so we may end up fellow club members!

Doug:
Welcome to RCSB site too. We are all line one big family & we share much of what we know with anyone who asks.

I too, build Guillow’s models. So you’re not alone in the “modest” department. In fact, you can check my build threads in “Other Kits” column on pages 3 & 4 for Super Detailed Guillow’s S.E.5 & Guillow’s Wright Bros’ Flyer. I’m currently working on super detailing a Guillow’s P-51 Mustang.

I also built the Guillow’s Corsair many years ago.

Good to have you onboard.

Cheers,

Gary

Doug,
GT is right. You’re limited to the very first 5 posts without joining. The annual dues are extremely small & it really opens up your access to this site.
