I just got on here. Been building/flying RC for close to 30 years, not a super scale builder but like to make my airplanes look as realistic as possible. As building is turning into a dying art (or so it seems) hoping to stay connected with other builders. Among other things, I like aerotowing, and have been having a blast at it with foamies (Ka-8 sailplane and first a FunCub and now an Agwagon towplane) but really would like to get into the larger stuff.

Hiya Sheepyhunter. What I have seen of Aerotow looks like a blast. Did some of that about 30 years ago, full size as the towee, not the tower
Welcome to RCSB! All sorts of scale builders here, some extremely good, others like me just average. I am sure you will connect with many helpful people - one thing about the scale community, we mostly are really happy to help othere.
If you want to take full advantage of the site though, you should become a site supporter - check it out HERE
Until you do that, you are limited to 5 posts (use them wisely!) and you cannot post pictures. Once you join, you will want to read the FAQs and a little over halfway down is all you need to know about posting pictures.
Again - welcome!

Welcome, you are in the right place if you like to build. This site has the best builders in the world, from around the world. Not many forums can say that. Word of advise, post your builds, share them with others. That's how we all learn

Sheep,
Just competed in a scale contest using the AeroTow (KA-8 ARF) as one of our scale maneuvers.
Dennis,
Welcome too!

Are you talking about the Parkzone Ka-8?--or the Phoenix Models Ka-8?
I started out with the Parkzone several years ago and we towed it with a FunCub. Then I got tired of the flim flam landing gear on the FunCub and rigged a Dynam Agwagon with a tow release. Lots of fun. There is intermittent availability on the Phoenix 3.5 meter Ka-8 and a while back I grabbed one, but it's still in the box. Either way, as long as you have a buddy you trust flying either your sailplane or towplane it's a ton of fun. I meet up with a gang for slope soaring once or twice a year, and where we go here in western Colorado I've flown that Ka-8 in slope lift that makes the wings flap like a bird (I keep waiting to snap a wing).
