To help show my appreciation to all of you who subscribe to RCSB,
I am giving away a very rare piece of aviation history.

I am offering a new copy of my friend Robert Krauss's book "The 509th Remembered -
A History of the 509th Composite Group as told by Veterans who dropped the
atomic bomb on Japan.
" to some lucky RCSB Site Supporter or Lifetime Site Supporter.

This copy of his book signed by two Enola Gay crew members,
and nine members for the Manhattan Project.

To qualify for this drawing you just have to be an
RCSB Site Supporter or Lifetime Site Supporter.

The drawing will be held Friday June 28th at 12:00pm US CST
Some lucky RCSB subscriber will become the
owner of this rare piece of aviation history!

If you are interested in learning more about the 509th or Robert's
book you can visit his website at the509remembered.com

If you are not a RCSB Site Supporter and wish to become one click here

Good luck to you all!

It's my pleasure guys... Just a small token of my appreciation to those of you who subscribe and help keep RCSB alive and well.

BTW, for those interested here is a picture of me with the man himself. Dutch Van Kirk - Navigator on the Enola Gay.
A true national hero that we lost a few years ago.

Unknown to me until just before he passed, I lived next door to one of these pilots. It was an apartment on the West Side of Fort Worth he and his wife had, presumably since he was in his 80's and no longer wanted to mess with owning a home. In May 2003, I found he had tripped and fallen out behind his back door entrance and I called an ambulance for him. He was not seriously hurt, but had a set back in the hospital, caught pneumonia, and died in the hospital less than a week later. So, never got to have a real conversation with him. But, I found out he was the co-pilot on the B-29 (Dave's Dream) that dropped an A-Bomb of the WWII "Fat Man" plutonium implosion type out in the Pacific on Bikini Atoll. And, he was stationed at Roswell NM air base in the Summer of 1947, which is interesting in itself. I spoke to his son after the funeral and got a few interesting comments from him about his father while at Roswell.

R.I.P. Col William C Harrison, Jr, USAF Retired. His Obit is fairly interesting, although, I feel the reference to Kwajalein is incorrect. Lane
