Hi all.

I have been lurking here since March 2009.

During that time I have looked a lot and learnt a lot more.

Today I took the step of becoming a Site Supporter (merry Xmas to me).

I like to build as well as fly and get a lot of enjoyment from both. I did start on a scale project a few years ago, but it really was not my cup of tea. The plan was to build in conjunction with 19 other people a DHC-1 Chipmunk from the Dennis Bryant plan. It really is not my era or type of aircraft so I have shelved it for the long term (sorry Danny), having built the wings but not sheeted them and assembled and sheeted the tail feathers.

This time last year I treated myself to a kit more akin to my type of aircraft.
A 1/3 scale BUSA Pup.

Work will shortly be commencing on the build.

I have bookmarked all the builds for the pup I can find on RCSB and have gone through them all at least 3 times. I do hope I have learnt something..

I also dabble a little in photography, mainly aviation related. If you want feel free to have a look at my flickr page.

Any way enough for now. Just waiting for my Site Supporter status to appear and I will then post a few picture`s of some of my models.

You won't regret it Kev,

Enjoy your build, lots of fun. What engine are you planning upfront?

Just had a look into your photo album. Lots of great photos, gonna watch them all

I would like to go with either a Zenoah 62 or Zenoah GT80 twin. I think it will need all the nose weight I can get.

Prefer the Z62 being a single and less maintenance. Also want to go for a magneto version rather than a CDI.

Of course if I could get hold of a Zenoah G38 and reduction drive for reasonable money that would allow me to swing a scale prop.

The engine is a must purchase soon so that I can adjust the firewall to suit.

Hi Kev,

If your models are as successful as your photography you are in GREAT shape!

Very impressive!

Good engine choice Kev,

Go for the G38 with reduction gear or the GT80 twin, both perfect combinations for the Pup.

I have the G38 with gear reduction on my pup,

The firewall is I believe in the standard location no adjustment for the engine was made. however it does sit pretty close to the firewall , and I have a stock muffler setup on there. I sure wish I had built it for the nice canister setup that goes thru the firewall.

Oh and welcome to building some BIG Balsa USA planes!  Be sure to post lots of pics and comments in the BUSA section ;)  And eventually of course VIDEO's  ... I checked youtube everyday for new BUSA videos...
