Welcome Andy,
I have been a avid follower of your full sized flying exploits, I hope you will be able to share your not inconsiderable skills with us.
(On another note, I am off to listen to David Phillips's Mosquito test flying experiences tonight.)

Thanks for the kind words, chaps and especially to Gwyn. How was the talk on the Mossie, btw? It's always been on my wish list, both as a model and full-size type, but I've not got there yet on either count. I met the owner of the Mossie, Gerry Yagan, in the 90s when I introduced him to his new Spitfire after he'd bought David Pennell's Mk IX for export to the USA, so I've been following the Mossie build with interest.

On the subject of full-size aircraft, I always wanted to earn my living as a pilot and I'm very fortunate in having done so, but my prime drive in aviation has always been the models. It's a lot easier to earn the money to pay for the models as a full-size pilot than the other way round......

David's talk was very well received , he is a very quiet spoken man but he talked about the approach to the test flight and the discussions he had with many veterans . He spoke about the take off sequence and how they decided to use a technique that a pilot who trained Chinese pilots in the art after the war, Really interesting . I spoke to him about his display and he said that it wasnt hard with an aircraft that flys so well. David has a strong modeling interest and is a member of our club. He also flys his full sized tiger in ways that they wouldn't normally be flown .
A very good night. Welcome aboard.

Gwyn

Hi Andy

I think you are being a tad too modest here. Believe me, your reputation goes before for you and a fine one it is at that. It seems to me your modelling exploits have been a well kept secret from mere mortals like us!

I look forward to looking at what ever you might put up for us ... and you are right about the "earning curve"!

Hi Andy,

It's a privilege to have you on RCSB... think we met way back at the Handley Page Competition sometime in the early 90's! If I remember rightly, you won with a lovely little Free Flight HP 22.

Where do you fly RC now and what sort of size/type are you interested in?

Cheers

Steve Rickett

I know you flew the Spitfire for sure and I belive one of the biplanes...I have also saved your article on flying the SE5A ( Flying Scale Models Mag. I belive ) which I have been building forever in 1/4 scale....

Glad to have you on this forum and thanks for all the great demonstrations through the years on the real thing..
