Hi all,

My name is Bill, im 32 years old, new to scale modeling, but not to the modeling world.  So you will be seeing many questions from this guy here, as i pick you brains for informational gold.

A little about myself.....other than my age, i have a beautiful wife named Kelsey whom ive been married to for 5 years, and i have a 19 month old son, Luke and another one on the way in July.  I am an LVN/LPN nurse working on my RN degree.

I truly love most WWII planes, the P-38 Lightning being myall time favorite.  One day i would love to build a 1/4 scale, but i know my wife would kill me if i tried that right now.  As for the other planes of my dreams, are the Grumman Goose and the Anderson Kingfisher (both of which i hope to own one day, well at least one of them)

After all the posts i have written so far i thought it only fair to officially introduce myself.  I would have to add i am far from the skills i have seen in the builds i have looked at so far, and i have to say you all blow my mind.  WoW!!  Incredible.

SO thank you for all the great warm greeting and i hope i can contribute something while i am part of this group.

Thank you,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the most amazing site for info you will ever come across.

I built an Anderson Kingfisher some years ago 1/4 scale from the Dennis Tapsfield plans - very good build & flew well

All the best

Pete

Bill, there is a small enclave of us up near Arcata/Eureka/Fortuna, as well.  Welcome.  Your area has many scale modelers, I think.  This is a great site.  Excellent builders from all over the world share their expertise and enjoy doing it.  Questions are almost always given quick answers.  Photos are an immense help.  Acquiring that skill early is a boon.  Scale model builders/fliers are getting a bit scarce, it seems.  ARF's abound at our field.

Thanks for the welcomes folks.

I live in Kelseyville so all those placves are only a couple hours away lol.

I have this theory of mine:  If you want something done there is only so many thing you can pay someone else to do for you.  I dont believe in ARF, or RTF if you can build it yourself.  That way if it breaks you can rebuild it, without putting more money into the other guys pocket, and there is a huge amount of personal pride too.  lol sorry for my spiel (sp).

Im really thinking of making a Grumman Goose, with all of ya'lls help.  It will be slow going since i have so much "life" events on my plate but i also dont want to rush anything.

Anyone know where i can find a Grumman Goose Kit and plans, i dont want a fiberglass body, i like all wood construction.  I will consider a Widgeon but i can find any kits.

Talk to all ya'll soon,

Bill
