The SSW was successfully test flown on Sunday evening. It handled much better than I expected. During slow taxiing it wanted to weathervane into the crosswind, but takeoffs and landings were very easy. The first flight was short because one of the flying wires came loose. After tightening all the wires I made two more flights and I did a lot of low passes at various speeds. The crosswind did not affect it much. I did one loop but did not try any rolls yet.
It was built from Dave Johnson's plans and short kit. The cowl and spinner are spun aluminum, done by one of the guys in the Cincinnati, OH club. Power is a Fuji 64 and the weight is about 34 lbs. Each aileron has its own servo in the wing.
Sorry for the lack of pilot and dummy engine...they haven't been made yet!
Jim

Thanks, fellas. It needs some more detailing but I'm happy that it flies so well. It's going to be a nice companion to my 1/3 scale Nieuport 28.

Quote: jwrich Another job well done. Nice color scheme, did you paint the wings? Have a great flying season. Rich
Hi Rich,
Yes, I painted the lozenges on using the stencil technique. Are you going to Hoosier DP this year?

I'll be staying close to home this year, Arkansas, Texas (2) and around Okla. Have you got another project on the board yet?
