You say you have been building models for years. Are we talking about plastic models? Those require different building techniques. You also mentioned you contacted a nearby club so does that mean you are not an active RC Pilot?  If you want to get back/begin flying RC the bigger airplanes will be easier to learn to fly on. One of the club members could look over your stash and likely help you pick out a suitable entry airplane.
Selling a vast horde of models and kits online will become a hobby unto itself.  Some don't have the temperament. 1/2 the MSRP is a decent gauge of the value of the stuff you have. For storage of your models don't put them in an uncondition room the material will deteriorate.
There are some who buy estates on a lump sum purchase its best to have an idea what these are worth before you start to deal with them.
There is a big swap meet in GA in the spring that might be a good place to move the majority of the stuff you have. Again you need to know what the stuff you have is worth.
Look at the ARF’s and RTF will be easy sells at most swap meets. They are the low hanging fruit in the model world especially any NIB stuff.
Fuel properly stored and unopened will last for years. I wouldn't send that to hazmat out of hand. Sport fuel sells for $25 a gallon I would $15 a gallon if the condition can be verified.

Thanks Ed I plan on doing just that, my issue with EBay is some of the kits are so vintage I have a problem with what they are worth and being so old they just are not being listed.  I want to enjoy the hobby and dedicating a work bench to the Proctor is going to take up room. Not saying it can't be done. I know I have some ARFs that won't take any time to get ready to fly but my skill level is beginner at best.  I know I can crash with the best.  I hope the people on this site will help me to grow.  Mike

Thanks for the greeting Bob, looks like we're not to far from each other.  Mike

Sparky, I have mostly built plastic. BIL had both, I realize its a different build, but I have built balsa before. Price has been the biggest factor. Now we have the time and resources. Even when I was into RC cars some things cost as much as the real thing.  I do enjoy the build and looking forward to taking flying to the next level. As far as storage both shops are climate controlled but I keep my battery and engine in the main house along with controllers.  I have reached out to a member of the club and he has offered to help, he knew Barry, only I have to get some type of organization to the collection which is where I am now. They say it's not the destination its the journey.  Next step for me is to go through the boxes and evaluate if he started any.  I looked at one that is a t28 and it looked like he started the rudder but stopped for some reason. Maybe he bought it like that! Mike

Mike,

Good you are involving yourself with a local AMA club...Is that Memphis Prop Busters in Inglewood? (3.2 miles from you)

Prop Busters is a diverse 67 member club with a formal training program...plenty of scale models as well.

Then you'd fit right in to their newbee program...an actual hands on helping hand. Your BIL being a member at Barnstormers should bring you a lot of eager helping hands...  Ask Willie Johnson what their FAA altitude limitations are as well as their FRIA status. Willie will direct you to the FAA registration so you can fly there and elsewhere.

If you are going to be at Prop Busters ask Jack Estes... so you get started properly/legally. How far away is the nearest airport? Private or public?

That club declares their ceiling 1200' AGL FAA FRIA assignment...you are fortunate...FAA does not award that to many clubs...this per their technical director.
