Hi, greetings from the Netherlands!

I`m Ramses de Looff, Dutch, age 47, working full time as an architectural designer.

Building and flying model airplanes since my youth, FF, RTP, (CL) and RC.

This was my first own design, a sportscale P-51B powered by a .40 Webra in 1991:

Besides building (& flying) I also like to design scale models for hobby.

One of those designs was a club project (Hawker Sea Fury Pylon racer).

Also a Fokker V.23 design, a prototype in 1/3 scale is being build now.

I use the name deLooff Aeroplanes as a collective name for my model airplane hobby activities.

It is not a company name or anything like that, it`s all hobby!

I mostly build several projects at the same time, often a smaller interim project simultaneously with a larger project.

We have to stay busy, don`t we?! forum image

Sure!

Since 2016 every year we have a club winter build project at our Flying Club Ornithos.
For the 2017/2018 winter club project we wanted a 1/12 scale pylon racer.

For this occasion I designed this 1/12 scale Sea Fury.

Of course it`s a sport scale model, though the outlines are true to scale, no enlarged empennage or so.

First I made a 3D model design:

Then the 2D plans:

A clubmate had a laser and made shortkits for this club project:

I`ve powered my prototypes by a 4cc OS Max 25 FX:

The helmet in the picture was worn by a Dutch Carrier based (Karel Doorman) Sea Fury pilot!

I`ve got this helmet from a friend and it is very special to me:

I join Sparky in welcoming you to this great RCSB site. As a resident of Reno, Nevada, home to the National Championship Air Races, I’ve seen many Sea Furies, Mustangs, Yaks, Bearcats & many other racers of all types, modifications & painted colors.

Quick edit: I noted the phrase Fly Low, Fly Fast, Turn Left was taken off of a funny placard that is next to the throttle of Rare Bear.

It will be interesting to see the Sea Fury models & colors you have to offer.

Relax, no judgment here. Just another enthusiast enjoying air races.

This site has far more to offer than anything I could describe.

Actually I only designed this "standard" version for the club project.

Frans and I gave it MLD (Dutch Navy) colors because we like those, though I know they have not raced in this colors at Reno

Tjarko gave his Sea Fury the Critical Mass color scheme but on the standard Sea Fury.

I have thought of redesigning the standard version into the highly modified Critical Mass....

BUT, our new Ornithos Club winter build project (2021-2022) is a P-51 Mustang in the same 1/12 scale for the club pylon races:

I`ve modified this design to an old Reno Racer, Miss Foxy Lady:

But those are just fun scale planes, back to the scale models!

I will update my Messerschmitt Bf-109 G4/R6 thread soon.

I'm with a group that gets a box seats for the Reno show, when you are ready to attend we can hook you up! Discount hotel downtown, box seats refreshments all quite reasonable compared to doing it on your own.
I've done USRA and NMPRA and Club 40 Pylon racing.
One lap at the Reno course in a Navy jet in 1991.
Thank goodness they only make you turn left!

My NMPRA EF-1 4th at the nationals and won best in show finish.
You might want to look at our Electric racing rules pretty good combination.

I flew RC Combat with a Seafurry and Bearcat with a K&B .21 likely more powerful than the engines you are running.

Your NMPRA EF-1 is a beauty indeed Very nice color scheme too!

I have one electric powered rc plane (Do Wal), the rest is all IC engine powered.

The OS 25 FX aren`t very powerful indeed, but my Miss Foxy Lady P-51 is powered by a MVVS GFS/R.

AirCombat isn`t very populair anymore in the Netherlands, i`ve still got one model though, a 1/12 Hellcat.

I build a 1/3 scale prototype Fokker V.XXIII over this plans.

Especially for a test engine setup, a geared OS Max .120 four stroke.

I still have to finish the wheels and attach the ailerons, make a dummy Mercedes, etc.

I`m also busy with a scale 1/4 Fokker V.23 design of which Teus will build the prototype.
