Century Jet Models has been purchased by AARC Warbirds.
For more information please contact 763-286-3036 or you can email us at sales@aarcwarbirds.com.
I spoke with Darren Bitzer at AARC and he is working to re-introduce some of the CJM kits.

One of my good friends was one of the original founders of Century Jet back when it came in to existence. I enjoy listening to his stories of the good old days, the shows, and listening to him explain how he went about designing some of the retracts, and his stories about working with some of the rc greats of the day.

The CJM Griffon Spitfire range and the P51 both the 1/4 and smaller 1/6th were all developed from the passed JMI (John Miles Inovations) from Australia. When John passed the molds all went to CJM and they developed their's from those.
Think his name was Gareth one of the CJM blokes? Was in USAF, Col or Major rank I think he was, met him when I was in the RAAF as there was a group of us had to lay out target grids down on the old 12SQN Chinook hard stand so the shuttle could calibrate cameras. Might have gone on to fly in the airlines.
I still have the smaller P51 and sadly lost the Spitfire a couple of years back.
Hopefully the new CJM treats modellers well.
all the best, we definitely need more vendors.
cheers Peter

Garland is his name, 100% correct on the USAF Maj. (Ret.) He's a really great guy, a talker, but a great guy. Anytime he calls I always plan for about 45 min to an hour and a half chat because we both get caught up in our "war stories". He retired a few years before I joined up right before 9/11. He talks fondly of his time in Australia.

Great news! Will this be glass/foam airplanes only or will there be retracts back too? Are they still in Louisville?

Darren Bitzer, the one who bought the line, lives up in the Twin Cities area. He is a member of our MN Scale and Giant Scale. Really nice guy to talk with. He speaks with a lot of enthusiasm for his new venture.

That is correct, I remember now, think it was 91 or 92 when I met him, I was a brand new electronics tech in the RAAF then.
Good friend of mine knew him well and assisted them with early retracts and the molds etc.
I hope the new owner of the range is very sucessful. I have the former drawings someplace for the tail retract mount and built up wing & stab for the smaller P51. These were for the JMI version but it's exactly the same.
