Greetings RSCB world. I want to take some time from everyone's build threads and introduce myself. I am John Boyko, I am the current Vice President of NASA and the CD/Event Director of the US R/C Scale Nationals. I have been building flying models for over 50 years, starting with Guillow's models and progressed through R/C models. There has always been an interest in R/C scale and started in scale competition in 2005. Over the years I have competed in the Scale Nationals, Top Gun and the Scale Masters. Through hard work I have been fortunate to consistently win and/or place in all three competition organizations. Through the years competition has given me more than I can articulate in a post. That's why I stepped up, became involved in the NASA organization, and CDing the R/C Scale Nationals. The National Association of Scale Aeromodeler's (NASA) is the scale special interest group (SIG) of the AMA. The purpose of NASA is to promote all aspects of scale aeromodeling. We are tasked with running the Scale Nationals (NATS) both R/C and C/L scale. We also run the US F4 team selection competition for the FAI Scale World Championships. What many people may not know is NASA supports local contests throughout the US. This is primarily accomplished in two ways. First, we provide the structure, via the AMA rule book. Secondly, we help support local contests financially through the NASA Contest Grant Program. NASA currently supports 15 contests and seminars throughout the US, with several more coming online in the next year or so.
NASA has recognized there is an online informational void about NASA and scale competition. As an officer of NASA, the CD for the Scale Nationals and current competitor my intentions being more active on RCSB is to provide the most current accurate, concise information and answers about competing in here in the US, and also hopefully dispel legacy myths about scale competition. I certainly can provide definitive answers about the Nationals. I plan to make informational posts both here and in the Scale Competition forum. I want to encourage you post any questions you may have here, or you can email me directly at jboykot28b@gmail.com. It may take me a couple of days to answer, but I will do my best to respond.
Now I need to learn how to upload my build photos.
