Hello everyone, My name is James I'm 62 and retired I worked only 2 jobs in my life The first was a soldier in the US Army and second an owner operator tractor trailer driver.

As a child we kids would spend hours flying our rubber band airplanes we got from the 5&10 store. Then came Cox .049 control line planes. It wasn't until 1994 that I got my first conquest radio from Futuba and a plane called " Sturdy Bird" basically a foam wing with a pvc rain downspout for a fuselage. It was powered by an OS 40 engine. Great plane for crashing which I did alot (I was a rouge flyer self-taught)
From then on there was no looking back the RC bug bit me hard. I love to scratch/kit build RC airplanes. My first scratch build was designed by world-renowned modeler Henry Haffke, this IMAA-legal model was an all-wood, built-up sport plane with a scale-like appearance. It was super-easy-to-build the design has extremely docile flight characteristics. WS: 82 in.; L: 64 in.; area: 1250.5 sq. in.; engine: .90 2-stroke .

I currently fly at Daytona Beach Radio Association and have in the works Ziroli DC-3/ plans and kit from National Balsa and two UMS 5-55 radial engines I plan to start a new thread about that later on this year (fall).

I also have a YouTube channel entitled, " James' Boats and RC Planes "  link

This is were I share my building techniques  about home building boats and RC airplanes.

Welcome aboard! You will find this forum full of guys all with the same interest in mind which is scale modeling. There are a lot of talented builders here who have lots of good ideas and are willing to share with anybody who asks. It will be good to see that "Doug 3" when you post some photos, myself I'm working on a 1/4 scale Luscombe 8A, something a little different.

Yes I cant wait till I get started on DC-3 but I need to finish others like Balsa USA 1/3 PA-18 and Sig's 1/3 Spacewalker first.  Right now I'm fiber-glassing a cowl from scratch for my UMS 5-55 radial engines. You can watch it on youtube!

Welcome to the group. I for one, really like to see more civilian aircraft. It’ll be a great change. Hopefully the airline of choice will be colorful.

Cheers,
