This month's winner of Model Of The Month is

John Ranson's DH Hornet

This is an beautiful model with amazing scale details that certainly deserves
this award from the sheer amount of tips and information in the thread!

Follow John through his build process and watch this model come alive.

Visit the build thread by clicking here.

For his efforts, John has won an RCSB SWAG PACK that includes
an embroidered RCSB hat and a large RCSB Mug.

Each month I choose a flying model with a build thread on the site worthy of this award,
so get back to work on that model or start a new build thread here on RCSB!

Well done John!

I'm sure many of us have enjoyed (and been inspired) following your various builds, any of which would be worthy of this award, so richly deserved.

Neil

Oh wow,

Thank you Mike and everyone, what a pleasant surprise.  Thank you all for your kind comments.

The Hornet is still airworthy and has completed 131 flights.  The highlight for me was when in 2013, DH 103 pilots signed it, including the famous Captain Eric (Winkle) Brown.

It was one of his favourite aircraft and he told me that he had flown a Hornet under a bridge in the North of England.

It was spotted, reported, and the authorities launched an investigation to find out who the culprit was.  Nobody owned up and the local squadron was temporarily grounded!

Winkle Brown kept quiet about it for many years.

John,

Well deserved indeed! Spectacular craftsmanship and always willing to share knowledge and documentation.
Thank you again with all the support building my own Dh103 Hornet, I could not have done without it.

Jose G.
