Rob,
Good morning and welcome to the site. Glad to have an active modeler from the U.K. I have always had a facination of many aircraft of British origin & even buy Scale Flying Models & RCEM (or is it RCME?). I'm more into smaller scale models since I live in a small apartment (flat). Still, do lots of detailing. I'm also an avid collector of photos of different aircraft. Have many detailed close ups of the -18, AT-11, & the -45. Beautiful plane!

By any chance do you have access to a (now) German heat-shrink covering with a fabric weave pattern called "Oratex?" It's supposed to be available to the US through Horizon Hobbies, but so far, so cigar. Solartex used to be my covering of choice, but as you probably well know, they closed their doors March of this year. I would imagine you may be needing some covering for the flying control surfaces, thus my reasons for inquiring.

I'll follow your build thread & again, welcome to the site.

Sincerely,
Skye

Skye, Solartex is now available as the company has been sold to new investors!

Cary

Hi Rob I have built two Ziroli Beech 18s - one many moons ago which I flew at the now defunct Goosedale nr Nottingham. The last one I built about 4years ago finished in the Grimes demonstrator lighting scheme ,which I sold due to an eye problem, now flying on the LMA circuit, they both flew very well and are a nice building project.
The DS Connie has a few building issues which need sorting as you build, there is a build on this site which will help a lot .

Will follow your build with interest.

Pete

Cary:
A big "Thank You!!" for the link to Solartex. You wouldn't believe what I went through trying to get an alternative source, only to end up at dead ends or being looped around.

Skye..

Sorry solartex isn't back. The link you sent is to a clearing agent getting rid of old stock.

Hi Rob
I'm just back into modelling after an 11 year layoff, I live in Southport UK & have just started the Top Flite Stinson Reliant, which will be electric powered. I was going to cover it with Solartex as I've used miles of it in the past, had heard rumours of the closure on other sites, but not confirmation. Just sent them an email to find what the situation is.
Regs Eric.
