Hello:

I found this wonderful site just recently. I have become a site supporter. I have been an RC enthusiast for the last 45 years, beginning with escapement controlled airplanes, the first Kraft and PCS proportional radios and now I am flying 1/3 scale birds (BUSA Super Cub and Sig Spacewalker). I still have my Senior Telecaster built from the kit while my wife was pregnant with our son, now 23 years old. I have upgraded to the Spectrum 2.4 gHz RMS2 for my JR 8103 and 9303 radios.
I have a lot of experience with build up kits. Besides what I stated above, I built the Pica 1/5 Scale Spitfire, the Yellow Aircraft 1/5 Scale Spitfire among others. Unfortunately, both Spits were lost. I am looking now to challenge myself with a full wood Meistersclale or Don Smith Spitfire 1/4 scale, and am looking at Valach or Kolm inline twin 4 stroke gas power. I would love any feedback from those of you who have experience with these kits, or any other full wood projects from these two manufacturers. I will first build a TF Gold edition Spitfire kit to use a gas conversion Saito 150 with. I haven't built anything for the last ten years, so I thought I would get into it slowly through this kit. I am a big fan of the Spitfire and love the look of it in the air!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to a long and enjoyable collaboration with all of you!

Bob

Hi Bob,

Welcome to RCSB.
Judging from your previous experience you should feel right at home at our asylum.

If you search the appropriate forums, I'm sure you'll find build threads of the Meister and DS Spitfire.

May I suggest that if you have specific questions about these planes, their short kits or the engines you intend to use, that you ask them in the Meister, DS and Engine forums?
You'll get a lot more response there.

Danny

Hey Bob, welcome to RCSB.  Danny is 100% correct, investigate the Meister and Don Smith forums in general and Spitty threads in particular (you may have to use the Search feature) first to get an impression of the kits/plans and then specifically on the Spitty.  Have you thought about Brian Taylor  or Mick Reeves kits?

we all. You may have these, but , here goes, Get the
Montforton 1/5.3 plans & the book.these are for the 5 & 9 marks.
I think everyone on this site will agree that they are worth the cost.
I think they both can be downloaded---someone confirm?

Yep, they are available as a download.

But if you really love the Spit, having a hardcopy is almost a must.

The book is not called "The Spitfire Bible" for nothing.

Book and plans source:

MONFORTON PRESS - scale Spitfire drawings

It appears it's Mk. IX and Mk. XVI.
