Hello to anybody reading this post,
My name is Steve and I am an Irishman living in Malta. I came back to the hobby a few years ago after a break of 23 years. I have been building models since I was 6 years old but never under any proper supervision or guidance and so it is really only recently that I have made a conscious effort to improve my building skills. I joined this great website a few years ago and I am constantly awestruck by the abilities of many members with the projects they turn out and so I feel extremely fortunate to be able to learn some of the skills that are portrayed. Most of my spare time is spent either thinking, building or surfing this website and so I look on it as an investment with endless value to join up as a member.
Unfortunately, my work takes me away from home for up to 7 months of the year so I miss out on a lot of flying at my local flying club as well as time in my workshop however I have a Toni Clark 1/4 scale J3 Cub on the bench at the moment as well as a near complete GP Extra 300. I took lots of photos of both builds so far but I have not been able to reduce the size of the photos enough to post on the threads.
I am currently at work so I will pay more attention to that when I am home.
I don't expect to have the Cub completed before this time next year but who cares. I get so much pleasure from going in my workshop and spending up to 5 hours (which feels like 10 mins) at a time.
On the shelf, waiting to be built are; 1/4 scale Peter Barth Waco YMF5 with a Saito FG57 and a Dave Platt FW190 which will have a Laser 300 converted to gas.
Thank you to anybody who is reading and its good to be on board.

Steve

Greetings Mate!  This is the place to be awe struck, no doubt.  I'll soon (a couple of months) be starting my first build thread here on RCSB after being a member for the last 8 years.

Thanks TJ. Well take the plunge when you are ready and I will watch out for you. What do you intend building?

Hi Steve - hope you can figure out how to resize your pics!

This may help, about halfway down the page:  LINK

A Vance Mosher designed Fairey Firefly.    I've built many kits over the years, always sport planes and gliders, with the exception of a few years ago when I built Vance's Fun Fly Wildcat from plans.  Still though, that was a fun fly, profile scale airplane.  I did a build thread on that, but it was on a local modeling forum that doesn't exist anymore.  You can still find Vance's thread on that design here in the old, closed threads I think.

Hi Steve,

Good you are on RCSB.

Nice photos you send me of your TC Cub.

Found a model aircraft club close to my new home in UK. Hopefully I find some time now to practice (for the F4C next year).

Best regards,
Edwin

Hi Tj, I will look out for that. We do not see a lot of the Firefly and yet it is a beautiful looking aircraft.

Thanks Edwin, its good to hear from you again and I am looking forward to seeing the completion of your MR Bristol.

Hi Jeff, I already tried the recommended photo resizing programmes, admittedly I did not spend a lot of time at it but I will seek assistance when I arrive home next month.

Thanks Richard, I will check that out also.

Regards,
Steve
