Hello everyone,
I am new here and found the site while looking at Stearmans on Nick Ziroli's site.
I have been flying rc for over 30 years and have flown some full scale as well. Most of my rc flying has been smaller sport type airplanes and for the last 10 years mostly 3D profiles. I have a few of my own profile designs that have turned out very well. I am a member of www.theprofilebrotherhood.com my screen name there is Doug G.
I joined here because I have always wanted to build something scale and larger than what I have been flying. I have always loved Stearmans and was lucky enough to get a ride in one when I was flying full scale. The guy that owned it let me take the stick and fly it around for a while. After I had my turn he took back over and we did some stalls and barrel rolls. It was an experience I will never forget.
Now I just need to decide which one to build 77" or 87"? I am just checking out different threads on others builds to help me decide. I am also trying to figure out how I want to power it.
I was happy to find this site, lots of great info here.

Doug G

Hey Doug, welcome to RCSB and have a Great Independence Day!

Lots of great people here, you will be able to get answers to most, if not all, of your questions.

Take a couple of minutes to look at the site supporter program too (LINK) - the site is well worth the price of admission - I look at it as a interactive magazine focused entirely on scale.

Good to see you here Doug. How are things at Daniells hobby shop? I suggest you stick with something 80 inch plus. Most big meets warbird and otherwise require 80 plus span. Which field do you fly at?

Hi Alan,
I haven't been to Daniels in several years. It use to be my go to hobby shop.
I actually live south of Nashville in Spring Hill. We have a LHS here in Spring Hill and there is another in Smyrna close to where I work.
I Fly in Columbia and will probably start flying again at Cain Ridge since one of my coworkers is flying there.
Thank You for the tip on staying at 80" or more. I have been leaning towards the 87" Stearman anyway so that makes the decision even easier.
