Hi all!

I'm Zac, I'm 27 and I've dabbled in RC a little with ARTF helicopters but have never taken the plunge into building my own. Yet!

I've built plastic kits since I was a kid and am only now branching out into balsa rubber-powered scale, with the hope of maybe getting into Radio one day. I'm an enthusiast from way back and I love "warbird" subjects as well as agricultural aircraft, so I'd like to do some from of sprayer or topdresser as my first RC build - perhaps a Fletcher FU24 or PAC Cresco, maybe a Piper Pawnee - before getting into the warbirds.

I've also got a 1/1 FU24 project in the works but would love something a bit heavier and historic.

I heard about the site through the RSCB Show on WarbirdRadio and Mike's infectious enthusiasm for the hobby poked me over the edge into joining. I doubt I'll have anything worthwhile to contribute anytime soon and will probably just lurk, but I figured my first post should be here.

I look forward to following everyone's projects and learning a thing or two

Z

Hey Zac - welcome to RCSB!

Keep on reading the threads, it is an amazing learning experience.

For your first RC I would recommend an un-glamorous TRAINER!  Sorry - but it will save you a lot of frustration in the long run.  You and get either an ARF or a kit - kit might be the way to go, to start honing your building skills.

Looking forward to your first build!

Thanks Jeff, most work days I steal an hour or so to catch up on the build threads.

I should've said "my first scale RC build"! That said, I'm going to be sensible and start off with some scale rubber-powered plans so I can learn the skills like you say. Then move to a trainer and, later, perhaps a scale trainer.

Thanks for the warm welcome, this morning I've become a site supporter so I'm looking forward to contributing!

Good deal.  I never really did rubber, but almost all of the good builders I know started with rubber.  You really learn a lot about trimming with free-flight
