A couple of pics of my recently completed 1/3 scale SG-38 glider. Built from a free plan on the scale soaring UK site, I had a set of wing ribs laser cut and built most of the rest from scratch. Pilot and radio gear were bought items. It spans 3.5 metres and weighs approximately 19 pounds when the optional power pod is fitted. Approximately 16 pounds without the pod and battery. The power pod was only built as a means to get the model airborne when there's not a suitable tug available. It has had one flight using the power pod, but has yet to be aerotowed. It flew superbly and needed no trimming at all, which was a huge relief to me! Various decals and placards have been added since these pics were taken and I need to fabricate a plywood wing centre section fairing when I can think of a way to attach it.

Nice! The pilot 'slaves' from control inputs, correct?

Thanks for the compliments chaps!

Michael - the pilot's feet are fixed to the rudder pedals, which move with the rudder. The joystick moves fore/aft with elevator input, but the pilot's arm restricts the movement too much when his hand is holding the joystick, so he currently flies 'hands off'. I'm working on improving things in that area! Joystick movement with aileron input wouldn't have been practicable to do while still having the wings readily detachable.

Viktor - Thanks. Power is a cheap Turnigy motor running on 4S with a 17 x 10 prop, giving around 1000 Watts. I can check the motor number later if you need to know. Yes, plan was on scalesoaring.co.uk, but I just looked for it and can't find it now.

Vik - I don't have the 1/3 scale plan in electronic form. Cliff Evans supplied me with a print at 1/3 scale and I think he may have just scaled up that 1/5 version. You can contact him via the link here - http://www.tvsa.scalesoaring.co.uk/VINTAGE/Plans/CNC/CNC.htm l
