I picked laser cut because my last one  was laser cut, but I have cut my own in the past and rather enjoy it.  Just kinda lazy now . .

It depends on that model being built...

My 1/4  Gee-Bee was cut by hand, as it had few parts (20 to 35 total) and it was MUCH cheaper and quicker to do it by hand.

The FW-190 didn't require many parts, but it was laser cut.

The ziroli P-61 i'll be building this winter will be laser cut, as there are allot of parts to cut, and i'm to lazy to cut them myself..

I cut my own stuff.  Sometimes store-bought canopies, cowlings and spinners work out OK; sometimes I make'm. The goal is a respectable looking plane that's light enough to fly well and withstand the rigors of my landings.  I'm not sure that I come out ahead $-wise.  It's fun, also.

Wow. Those results are shocking to me. I thought I was like the only guy who preferred to cut their own kit...but, better than 50/50...who knew?

Like others I have used about every method, but all things considered, without hesitation, I prefer to cut my own. Nothing beats selecting your own wood for each part, weighing different wood, and knowing where any inaccuracies might lie once you are through cutting...to say nothing about it being like 1/3 of the cost of a purchased kit.

Wulf190 I couldnt agree more!! you get to know all the parts & where they go by cutting your own parts & it adds up to a very small percentage of the total build time in the end, Though I do fully understand the use of laser cut parts I for one can be very lazy & they should be accurate.

I voted to cut your own parts even though my current project is an old Dave Platt kit which is precision die stamped
