Hello everyone,

I've been browsing the forums here for a long time, and I
just want to introduce myself.

I'm fairly new to the hobby, I've always been curious about
RC airplanes. I started with a Super Cub LP, got proficient
at flying that, then modified it a lot (Flattened and clipped
the wing, added ailerons and flaps, upgraded to brushless,
etc...).

I did my first kit build, a Miss Stik Jr. It was a lot of fun
and flew great, until I miscalculated an approach to land,
into a tree. It sat in the weather for awhile, and was pretty
much ruined by the time I got it down... may it rest in
pieces.

After that, I became obsessed with scale building. I am
working on my first "close to scale" kit, a Guillows Spitfire
(403). I'll post a build thread later. I'm building it electric,
and adding ailerons. It won't be scale, but I'm trying to
gain some skill with doing custom modifications before I try
a real scale build. I've got a TF Gold Spitfire, and C-182 on
the shelf waiting for me to take a stab at it.

The part I'm going to have to contend with, is scale building
seems to be a bit expensive when you want things to be
perfect, and I am by no means rich (wife and I live check
by check with our 1 child). So, I may have to cut corners
on some scale details, but any advice anyone gives me on
cost savings while building would be much appreciated!

I look forward to sharing information with you all, and hope
to keep on learning from you. This seems to be a great
forum, with a lot of very experienced builders. Thank you
in advance for any advice I receive here.

Welcome Ryan.

Small scale is a lot of fun too. I'm currently working on 2 of the Dumas kits (40" Taylorcraft and Aeronca C3). I like to build and I find Ican afford more of these smaller projects than the larger ones. I have built several quarter scale, actualy prefer building to about a 50-60inch wing span (They fit in my Ford Focus).
