Mike. I understand that, but the Dates and Location for the World Champs have been known for long time.

Quote: vertical grimmace Attendance looks way down. Only 1 entry in Expert and designer?
I attended the Scale National competition a year (or two?) ago when it was held at the Hemet Model Masters field in California. (Got to see and photograph John Coles awesome Jenny.). (Or was this just a regional qualifier?)
Considering this was a "national" competition, I was shocked at how few entries there were....not more than a dozen. Also very few spectators on the one day I was able to be there.

Actually Alan, the dates for the Scale Nationals were set long before the FAI dates were published. AMA holds planning meetings and try to work at least one year ahead. For the last five years, the Scale Nationals fall on this weekend. And they will likely continue to fall on this weekend going forward. Very few people appreciate the complexity of scheduling the Nationals.

Yes, the attendant is down. We expected that Given that nine regular nationals attendance are now currently in England. And out of those nine that equates to almost 14 Aircraft. Looking at the number of entries that were pre-registered, we would have still been on pace for 50 entry contest

Are there any scale sailplane competitions? I have a whole bunch of those! Ten ready to fly and all scratch built from my own plans. I could at least participate and be 'pack fodder'! I could really care less about 'winning' trophies but it would be fun flying with like minded individuals.

Hi ARUP,
That is a great question. Unfortunately at this time there is not a "Scale Sailplane" category at the Nationals sadly because of lack if interest at this point. I would love to see those beautiful scale birds sailing in the blue skies over Muncie every year but at this time it's a no-go. There are of course the Soaring Nationals put on by the LSA (League of Silent Flight) but I am not aware of a specific scale sailplane event they host, sorry.
Regards, Mike

More photos from Saturday and Sunday and the Awards Banquet. Hope to have the final score sheet images to post today. You can also find more info on the AMA site which has daily coverage by clicking here.
