Many WWI aircraft had fairly basic instrument panels and can be fun to scratch-build...as I did this one for a 1:8 scale Phoenix CI.
With more modern aircraft, achieving an authentic looking panel probably requires a CAD/3D printing approach.

If a clear, precisely drawn panel in 2D were created as a properly scaled template from a 90+ year old b/w photo…it could provide time saving accuracy and superior results. Not to be removing any craftsmanship aspects of this hobby.

Here are a few examples of 1/4 scale projects that I have created for other modelers. Previously, I used a filament 3D printer, but I was dissatisfied with the resolution. Now, I exclusively print all my components using a resin printer. I have designed custom panels, and the modeler assembles these panels as a kit. I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of modelers who have incorporated my panels into their ARFs as eye candy.

I too am considering upgrading to a resin printer for the same reasons. FDM is great for large pieces, but the detail pieces I want to do, resin is where its at. If you dont mind me asking, what model resin printer do you use?

The resin printer I use is a "Photon Mono M5s Pro" and I'm very pleased with it. Although I have recently upgraded my FDM printer to a "Bambu P2S" and must say it does amazing quality work as well. One thing to keep in mind with resin printing it's not as easy as picking your project of the build plate of a FDM printer. It can be messy, you have to wash and dry/UV your work.
