The below pilot was in my Dave Platt 1/5 scale Zero of many years ago.
I crashed the plane due to a dead stick at the Scale Nationals in the early 90's.
Never did find his right foot. It is still in Muncie somewhere....
I have kept this pilot on display in my shop for all of these years.
A few days ago a strong wind came through the open doors and it took a nose dive off of the cabinet it was on.
The picture does not reflect the will over 100 small bits and pieces that i picked up.
Jig sawed it back together as best as i could, filling voids with cotton balls and some Evercoat filler.
Showing this is a two fold purpose. One, just to show him off.....
Most importantly though it shows what can be done with some time and patience to something that has been damaged.
From now on it will be stored inside the cabinet.

Now that's perseverance!!! Awesome job piecing him back together!
What a coincidence. Last night I was just looking through a bag of pilot figures a buddy gave me from his father's estate. This pilot figure and 3 of his US Navy combatants were in the bunch. I sent Dave Platt an email to try and get some information on the history on these but haven't heard back.  The 3 Navy pilots look to be of the same manufacturer but have the name W Tripp scribed into the bottom instead of D Platt. Fortunately I have enough arms and leg parts for each figure. I would love to learn more about these if anyone has back history. -Bill

Reminds me of the "Officers and Gentlemen" line of pilots that died out years ago. Wish they were still around. Lane
