@Bruce -- Seiran is a good guess! But -- we already did that, and I don't think it was capable of carrying a torpedo.
More clues! - Single engine bomber
- Mid-wing
- Flaperons
- Dive brakes
- Crew of two
- Fewer than 100 built
- One surviving example
- Fast and maneuverable, especially for its size
- Capable of carrying a torpedo externally
- Designed for carrier operations, but never successfully operated from a carrier
- Both a torpedo and dive bomber
- Inverted gull wing, causing it to be mistaken for an F4U Corsair (with disastrous results!)

DING DING DING!!!
Aichi B7A1 Ryusei (Shooting Star) "Grace"
There is a surviving example in the NASM collection. I think it was pulled from a swamp somewhere. It is intact but not in great shape. Missing its landing gear and most of the cockpit. It has been in storage at the Garber facility for many years:
Over to you Paul.

I thought it started to seem a bit familiar, if you look back at page 42 of this topic, you'll find I had used the B7A1 as my quiz plane. Although my clues were quite a bit different than your's. Also, for whatever reason the plane is listed as #30 in the index back on page 1,but it is listed as ARCHIVE B7A1 not Aichi. I'll try to get something up soon.
