Hello everyone,

my name is Phaedra, I'm from Belgium and I am slowly but surely learning about building techniques. I am glad I discovered this forum; it contains a real treasure of information for me, and I really like the positive and supportive atmosphere here.
My ambition is to build that Maratuka/Royal DC-3 that I bought 3 years ago, but I am a bit intimidated by the amount of skill and time and patience it will take to complete that project.
As a learning curve, I have built a Jamara lasercut kit of an SF-260 Siai Marchetti (which I haven't dared to fly yet), and last winter I started another lasercut kit of a Beech 18 (until the cat decided to trample all over it and destroyed some stringers and stuff).
After a long pause (due to having a child and buying a house, we've alle been there), I took up the hobby again in 2012, mainly flying ARFs, from gliders to EDF jets. As the only female club member, that sure does draw the attention.
I am reading a lot of build logs now, trying to learn as much as possible. So far, summer hasn't brought us great flying weather yet, with lots of wind basically. It gives me time to do some overdue maintenance on my models, but I'm really hoping for the weather to improve...

is a Belgium Aeroplane based at Limburgse - Vleugel.

There is a model club on the airfield.

3 off us are going to the DMFV scale event at Bullingen on first week of August.

the link you posted gives an error when I try it?
I have been a member of that RC club for a couple of years, so I could enjoy their very nice 80m concrete runway, but it was an hour's drive for me, so I quit the club, sadly.

There are a couple of building threads going on the DC-3/C-47 right now. I’ll see if I can alert the builders & have them introduce themselves to you. In the meantime, relax, enjoy, ask many questions & welcome to RCSB.

Welcome!

I am building a Ziroli DC-3 which is considerably bigger

than yours but some of the construction might be the same.

If I can help at all, feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can

to answer any questions. My current DC-3 build is my second

time around and I have learned a lot since joining this forum

six years ago.

There is another build going on but it is temporarily on

hold b/c the guy is moving from one part of the U.S to another.

There are a few other DC-3/C-47 builds if you look through

the Ziroli section in Designers. Mark Armbrust on this forum built

a real nice one.
