I found this PDF file that describes the process of painting pilots. Its free on the Aces of Iron website. http://www.acesofiron.com/Paint_Special/ Aces_Paint_presentation.pdf

Here is my Aces of Iron pilot for my Spad 13. First time for me to paint a pilot and I think he looks pretty good. The instructions from Aces of iron helped me out greatly.

Its been awhile since a post in here. I have thought about trying to sculpt a new pilot again someday.. Its not easy to beat the ones you can buy. But it can be satisfying in the end...

Here's my 3 BUSA pilots, all from Park Flyer Plastics, https://planecrazystuff.com/product/import-placeholder-158/.
Not as detailed as some, but they look pretty good. Nothings worse than an open cockpit RC model on a flyby without a pilot.

Since most of these are Aces of Iron busts, the thread title is a bit misleading. So Aces of Iron in BUSA planes.
Anyway, here's the pilot for my much modified Proctor Antic. Painted with super-cheap craft store acrylics with some touch-ups from a $1 store make-up kit.
And here's the much modified crew for my Albatros CI.
