Does anyone know what is the easiest way to this snap nut on?  Thanks so much for your help.

Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,

Make sure the screw is not in the silver piece, then place it upside-down on a hard surface and sit the clip on the shaft you wish to push it down on. Grab a pair of needle-nose pliers and place each tip of the pliers on two sides of the clip and push the clip evenly down until you hear it snap. It will then be locked on.

However, with that said most modelers do not use these as they have a tenancy to come loose and have "slop" in them (from turning). You would do better to get some Staybrite and solder a threaded brass brass clevis mount so you can use a regular clevis.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Dear All -

I am sure you guys are wondering what happened to this guy   Well work and other life's responsibilities took over a bit but I have been active behind the scenes--buying up plans and parts for my first scale build of the Moth Minor, I will start a new thread for the Minor.

However, this is what is going on with my wood trainer (since I need this airplane to learn to fly) ....
  • I have a Futaba PCM receiver in it right now, but my buddy box will not work with the PCM because it works with PPM and needs a FM receiver (which I don't have).  I had sent my radios in to Tony Stillman @ RadioSouthRC (awesome guy) and he changed the program on my master Futaba to PPM.  Problem is since this 72MHz radio is archaic and finding stuff for it is getting next to impossible (like a FM receiver)
  • The wood trainer is almost ready to go and is balanced.  All I have to do is adjust the throws and charge the battery
  • Sooooo, does anyone have any thoughts here, my objective was have this bird up in the air in August and I am not sure if I will be able to
  • Thoughts??????
Futaba PCM Radio and the buddy box -

Trainer -

Moth Minor and wood from National Balsa -

I might still have a hitec receiver I would be happy to donate, the problem is finding the correct crystals to match your Tx.  And they should be HiTec crystals too.
Since they are both FM (Tx and Rx) they are compatible, unlike 2.4 which have to be from the mfgr.

If I can find it, I will PM you.

Hi Jeff -

You are heaven sent.  I will be glad to return the favor.  My other option is to get rid of the old radio system and use my new Spectrum but I would have to buy another buddy box.

first check to see if you can find hitec crystals to match your current frequency, or if you can find a futaba module on the same frequency as the hitec crystals you find.  You may have to search ebay, rc universe and rc groups

*** EDIT ***

Just checked - I have two Futaba FP-R127DF 7 channel FM Rx, one on 19, one on 58
I have two HiTc RCD3200 7 channel FM Rx, one on 58 and one with no crystal.

Take your pick - will be happy to send one of the Futaba or both of the Hitec.

Hi Jeff -

You are AWESOME .  THANK YOU SO MUCH. Please stay tuned.  I am going to attempt to fly this trainer on my own.  I have done takeoffs and landings on the foamy cub and feel confortable with my wood trainer.

God only knows what will happen .  I will keep you guys updated.

If you won't get help - avoid full throttle, and avoid jamming the sticks to the stops.
