Hi Scale Builders!

LBJ here.

Been ARF'ing too much for the last 6 years and decided to get back to some building skills. I enjoyed the ARF kits, but sometimes you cannot get what you want in an ARF. I'd like for ESM to come out with a large FW-190 A model like their D9 model and I might bite it. But, will likely build a Meister Scale 102 inch A6 - A8 version in the not too distant future. Right now I am in the final stages of a BUSA SE5a 1/4 scale kit. I posted some info on the BUSA Forum here.

I enjoy the build threads here as they answer questions I have had during the SE5a build and show other stuff that is useful.

My last few Scale birds have been the 74 inch ESM F4U Corsair with DLE-30 and a Wild Hare F6F Hellcat with DLE-55. Other scale planes have been an ESM PC-21 Electric, Arizona Aircraft Modelers Tiger Moth Electric, CMP Zero Electric, KMP P-38 Electric, H9 P47D Electric, SkyShark P-40N with Revolution 50, RC Guys Pitts with DLE-55, Ty Brown's (Ty Built) ME-109 Electric, Fly Fly Mirage 2000 Electric, Maxford 105 inch Jenny Electric, H9 1/4 Scale J-3 Cub Electric, and others I cannot think of at the moment. I'll post a few pics as I can find them on the hosting site.

Hi J_Whitney. A few are "attritted" aircraft, as we used to say at Lockheed. The Big Jenny, sadly, was lost a couple of years ago when the 106 degree F heat melted the velcro and the flight battery left the plane while in a roll. She was flying fine too. The Silver Dynaflite Chipmunk also was lost due to a battery failure, but this time a false "charge completed" indication of the flight battery was the culprit. Oh well, lose a few along the way. I now check the batts before EVERY flight! I still have the rest in the pics, but have sold a few and crashed a few others not shown.

Here's two planes I didn't build, just bought and traded for. First is a Proctor DVII by late local legend builder Ernie Harwood. I simply put new batts, Sullivan glow driver, and 2.4 radio and flew her. She featured a Laser 200 V-Twin glow four stroke. I found her a new home via RCU. The Cub is a Sig 1/4 scale built by an old timer in the area which I recently flew in the Scale Masters TX qualifier FUN class and won first place, last June. All I did to her was install a DLE-30 and 2.4 radio. She's old and heavy, thus the switch from Saito 1.20 to the DLE. Fun to fly on just about any day.

As an update, I feel I have gotten back WAY MORE than my $20 admission fee from the information given by the RCSB folks. I was able to solve my SkyShark P-40N "wild" servo and Revolution 50 engine problems, based on user comments and suggestions. I had been messing with the P-40N for about 3 years with only 1 successful flight on a model I had invested around $1.5K. Now I've flown her about 6 more times with those problems behind me. Membership fee was worth every penny. LBJ
