Hello, builders.  I'm a lifelong modeler, starting with a Cox J-3 control line model that I got for my 9th birthday.  When it wore out I bought a Sterling Ringmaster Jr. (IIRC), built it and put the .049 from the J-3 on it.  I've been building and flying ever since; now I'm retired and spend most of my time in the shop or at the RC field.  Current projects include a restoration of a 1/4 scale Balsa USA L-4 that might have been easier if I had started with a new kit.  It's about ready to cover and I'm trying to make it a reasonably scale looking plane.  Other scale builds that are almost ready to cover are a SIG 1/4 scale J-3 and a 1/4 scale Bridi Rearwin Speedster.  I have an IMP P-47 in the box; trying to find a source for the instructions for it as they're missing after a move.

Welcome to the site! You are going to find a great bunch of guy's here that all have one thing in common and that is the building and flying of scale RC models. All levels of experience can be found here and nobody is put down here if he chooses to build a scale "Air-knocker" of some sort, or the lastest in a "come close to breaking the sound barrier" type of turbine jet model. We have all been able to learn from each other, help solve each others problems within a project, and are able to steer someone to a new type of product and where it can be found.

Thanks for the welcomes.  Sparky, thanks for the correction.  It was almost 60 years ago that I built the Baby Ringmaster.  I agree, there is a big bucket of knowledge here.  I learned a lot about building scale aircraft when I worked on full sized tube and fabric aerobatic aircraft for a while.  Did you know that it takes 91 yards of fabric and 400 yards of rib stitching lacing to cover a Stearman?  Learned that one the hard way!  That's what you get when bomber designers invent a basic trainer!
