That is not such a farfetched idea. When I was a mechanic for the airlines, I once sold a Proctor Albatros kit to a guy in Oregon. I measured up the box and went into the hanger knowing what aircraft flies the route and measured up the overhead bin, it would fit so I too hand carried it from Minneapolis to Portland. Boy you should have seen the looks I was getting though, but it made it in one piece. I can only imagine the looks you got with that helicopter fuse.

Not quite on topic, but I reduced the full 1/6 scale SE5a kit into a shoebox and then hand-carried it back from Germany to Japan.  I did this by opting not to have any of the "lumber" and removed all the parts from their CNC frames.

I had good success with the bus shipping back in 2019. Reasonable $. It was a PITA to get to the bus station and meet all the colorful people that tend to congregate there while maneuvering a box large enough that a body would fit in.
