Hi All,

I rarely ask our great community to help but a fellow RCSB'er Chad Veich (who would never ask for help himself) needs our assistance.

Chad had been fighting an extreme case of Rheumatoid Arthritis which has broken down his immune system and causing all kinds of complications for the last couple of years. The good news is that the Mayo Clinic has agreed to take his case. The bad news is that this debilitating disease has not allowed him to work and has been draining his families finances to near nothing. He needs our help folks.

Luckily, Chad's brother has setup a Go Fund Me account on Chad's behalf to help him pay his part of the treatment and for expenses. Without this help Chad cannot afford to get the treatment he needs.

I know many of you are on fixed incomes, but any help (no matter if it is $10 or $100) is greatly appreciated and helpful. Many of us have benefited from Chad's generosity and helpfulness here on RCSB and if we can give a little back that would be awesome. Below is a link to the Go Fund me campaign created by his brother. Please give what you can.

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Mike

Just want to keep this where more people may see it

I have had several members contact me asking if there was any other way to donate to Chad's cause directly (not through GoFundMe). I contacted Chad got his mailing address and PayPal address below if you wish to help out in that manor.

If you wish to mail a personal check directly Please make it out to "Chad Veich". His mailing address is:

Chad Veich
248 Bahia Lane West
Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Also if you want to PayPal him you can at: cvnkv@aol.com

Thanks to you all who have helped out so far. The response is overwhelming!

Cheers,
Mike

Hello fellow RCSB'ers.  Surgery day is rapidly approaching and so I just wanted to drop in and give an update as well as say a huge thank you to all who have responded.  The surgery is scheduled for 8am on Wednesday the 29th of January.  They will be removing the entire superior lobe of my right lung.  The right lung has three lobes with the uppermost being the superior lobe.  In my case that entire lobe has filled with infection and the usual medications have done little to nothing to kill the infection.  That leaves no other option but to remove the lobe.  Once that is done the doctors are confident that the medications will clear up the small traces of infection remaining in the lower lobes of my lung.  As you can imagine this is a very invasive procedure and will require a relatively extensive recovery.  Probably a couple of months to get back to normal.  All of this, and quite likely the vast majority of other health issues I have suffered from for the last several years, most likely is related to the primary medication I have been taking for my Rheumatoid Arthritis.  It was a monthly infusion of a drug developed initially to fight cancer and is, for all intents and purposes, like doing liquid chemotherapy.  Because RA is an immune deficiency and my own immune system is what is causing the damage, anything used to treat it has to suppress my immune system.  Obviously that means I may be left wide open for any and every bug that comes along.  While in most cases it is not a huge risk I guess in my case it proved to be more harmful than it was helpful.  Needless to say I will not be going back to that particular medication!  I probably won't be checking back in now until I get home from the hospital and spend a week or two getting better.  But I will be sure to touch base and let everybody know how it's going as soon as I am able.  As always I welcome your prayers, happy thoughts, good juju, etc.

Thanks again for everything, it is very humbling.  Model airplane people are the best people on the planet!
