Hi, guys!  Glad to be re-joining the fold.  I signed on some time ago when I began to construct my quarter-scale Vaillencourt L-19.  She's being glassed now and soon I will enter a happy show 'n' tell period with you. 

Right now though, I could use some help in identifying an ARF purchased from an estate.  It's obviously an Edge 540 but came with no sort of paperwork.  It has a 74" wing span.  I'm trying to identify who manufactured the ARF. so that I can find a copy of the builder's manual. I don't want to guess the size engine needed, C.G. location, control travel, etc. I replaced the wingtips and covered them with red Monocote.  The previous owner festooned it with stickers

Hi Jerry - welcome back!

The general guidelines for posting pics are on this page:  LINK - about halfway down under the Posting header.
Once you reduce the file size and insert your first picture, make sure the cursor is on the right-hand side of your pic and press enter a couple of times.  Likewise after you enter text and befor the picture.

This stacks the pictures vertically and makes the narrative easier to follow.  When in doubt, use the "Preview Post" button just below the reply box - that will show you how your post will look.

Rule of thumb.

60" wingspan takes a 60 cu. in. motor (10 cc)

I'd stick an OS 61 in it.

It's an aerobatic plane. Get as much throw as you can on the control surfaces if you're going to fly it as such.

You have been mislead. The only thing Edge 540 there is the stickers!

It is a Cap 230 or 232.
I would power it with either a 120 2 stroke glow or 20cc petrol or 30cc if you like lots of power.
Google will find you a CofG calculator, start out at about 25% and work back by feel.
Re the control throws go easy on the elevator. Caps have been known to tip stall viscously unless light, or with a rearward CofG or with too much elevator.
Ease your way into the setup and it should be a ball of fun.

I've scoured the market trying to find which company made this ARF…and have failed miserably.  I think Boltman might be right...it does look more like a Cap 232, despite the graphics shouting: "I'm an Edge 540!"  None of the 540s I've seen have swept wings...or such wingtips   

 I'm hesitant to hang a new Saito 180 onto a plane without such basic knowledge as CG location.  Google may have a formula for approximating C.G., but math has never been my forte.  I don't want it to be my down-fall (pun)  now.  Thanks for the help, gents!

You said the Wing span is 74".  What is the cord at both the root and tip and how far behind the root does the tip sweep back?  With that info someone here should be able to figure a CG for you.
