Hi All

This is the Hawker Fury with Sabre engine (VP207) almost completed.

Model started life as a Jerry Bates Sea Fury (1/5.6 Scale - 81.25' Wingspan) in 2010 while living in Qatar. Wanted to do something different and found the Sabre engine powered Fury.

Roto 85FSI engine installed, Sierra retracts and Futaba radio (Futaba and Hitec servo's used). Covered with FliteMetal. Have flown it a week ago, prior to finishing the Flitemetal (no video) and it flies as on rails. Weight is 15kg.

Still work to do, like the exhaust stacks and other details that are missing but getting there.

Luc

  Hi Luc,

Your Fury is beautiful & very definitely different ! Never seen one or these before.

I am interested in the 85 FSI's performance in a 15kg warbird, do you think it pulled the model around well & what prop are you using? how many RPM are you getting on the ground?

Thanks all for your nice comments:

Bak: the Roto runs at 5700rpm with a 25x10 propeller. The plane could use a bit more power but I will see once the engine loses up what the performance will be. Maybe I will install a 25x12 prop.

Jim: I didn't document the flitemetal application, the process took longer then 2 years in part because I have limited time but also it takes that long too apply and I got bored with it a couple of times. I might have some pictures taken during the process. Currently I am on a business trip and will check when home again.

  Hi Luc,

Thanks for the info, numbers sound good. I believe these engines are run & tuned at the factory, but not run in so it should free up over time. Please update this thread as you get more hours on the engine.

These engines are now available through a NZ supplier ( no private import hassle's) and I have a project tucked away (13-14kg) that this engine would just fit nicely.

  Thanks again.
