I almost didn't participate in this years Nats, but my wife talked me into it.  Sure glad she did!  The move to the grass runway at site 4 was a great decision.  Kudos to John Boyko - he put on a great event!

Thanks also to all the sponsors.  I don't know how many will be reading this post, but know that you are certainly appreciated.  Thanks RCSB!  Sure wish I had won the Lifetime Membership in the pilot's drawing ..... very nice prize.

Nice to come home and re-live the event through this thread.  I managed my highest finish in Expert Sport Scale and also achieved my highest combined score.  I squeaked in a third place but still have a long way to go!  My static scores for my N-11 were only 95.5........when you start out 3 plus point behind, all the best flying in the world won't get you caught up.......but that only kindles the fires for a better build for the next plane.

Kudos for covering the Scale Nats!

Congrats Art.  Did the judges like the knife-edge flight you practiced at IOK?  ;-)

Thanks Noel.

.......I only have room in my flight schedule for so many maneuvers and I just couldn't work that one in .  You should see how fast that Nieuport sinks when I put it on it's side .  It gets scary real fast!

To All Contributors, Great Coverage!!! Awesome!!!

Being from the Chicago area, I feel the need to call out attention to Mr. Hal Parenti. I don't know him personally, but have admired him for decades. It was great to see him do well.

Back in the day, when I flew Novice Pattern in the 70's, scale was the half time show at pattern events. I was at a competition when Hal flew his Zero in pattern. May have had issues with his Cannoli pattern model, no idea, but he placed in Pattern Expert with a scale model.

As you know, his Top Flite designs followed Mr. Platt and were great flying models. It's nice to see him active and competing at the Scale Nats during a legacy career in modeling, and still going strong.
