Last weekend, August 29-30, my club had our annual WWI and Golden Age fly-in - Waldo Pepper's Flying Circus, at the Southern Alameda County Radio Contoller's (SACRC) field, the Lou Haynie Memorial Field, in Union City, CA.

Small probably by some standards - 14 pilots but probably around 30 airplanes - we had a great time.  The weather was cooler than the day before, in the upper 70's to low 80's, and the winds stayed rather mild until about 1PM or so - as usual.

Here are some pictures, sent to me by Ken Sciacca - many thanks!  My own camera crapped out and I have a few from other folks, I have to go through my cell phone and see if any are any good.

Jim Solar's Curtis Pusher from the Maxford kit - Pilot's Choice

Gus Stutsman's Proctor Eindekker - Best WWI
More Eindekker:

The man and his wife:

Father and son Dave and Jeff Lovett:

Dave is flying the Blackburn Monoplane, Jeff has the Nieuport 11.  The Blackburn is 35 years old and the Nieuport is 15
The Blackburn:

Just love the light through the covering!

Jeff's Proctor Nieuport 11:

Gus's Sommer Monoplane:

The Sommer is also a wing-warper and also from Proctor.

This is Jim Hornung's DVII - not sure of the kit, electric power.

Check the fabric on the fuselage!

Eric Sanders brought a nice GP Fokker Dr-1:

Larry Shephard's Bristol M-1

George Ellison's SE-5a on it's maiden:

Sadly, on his next flight it was wiped out in a midair with a Cub

Part of the lineup:

Not all landings are happy affairs - Dave Lovett's Walk of Shame:

And finally - me, approaching my reluctant DVII:

She is getting a new engine next week.

Will post a few more over the next couple of days.

Jeff,

Looks like a nice event.  I need to get a WWI plane!
