I dont know how many people from RCSB made it to the N.A.M.F.I in Owatonna MN. the smmac club that hosts the event , the field is owned by MR Tim Johnson
who has a hart of gold with a field that has a great runway
but this was one of the most memorable shows that I have been to. so many people dedicated to the hobby and to each other, as far as helping each other out. I my self am new to the scale war bird community and I cant get enough its awesome
I am going to post some pics of the event and if there is any one with more pics please chime in. with people coming in from all over the U.S. it was great seeing old friends and making new ones

Jim.

Hey,  I'm trying to make contact with Doug Yaroch who was given as the builder of his scratch built B17 shown in the September Model Aviation.. Now I see the same B17 in this thread. I emailed Bob Johnson who is one of the authors of the article but have not gotten any response as yet.

I read in that article that Doug Yaroch scratch built his B17 in memory of his father who spent 12 months in a POW camp after he was shot down. That same exact text applies to the B17 I scratch built in memory of my Dad who was shot down on May 19, 1944 and spent 12 months in POW camps or marching between them. Well I know all the names of my Dad's crew and the markings on Doug's plane told me that he was not in the 570th BS with my Dad but there were 588 B17 on mission 106 (8th AF 358) escorted b y 155 P-38s, 182 P-47s and 363 P-51s. So assuming that Doug has rounded off the days to 12 months, and my Dad was a POW for 11 days short of 12 months, our Dads could have been shot down on the same mission... may have even crossed paths in a POW camp.

I presented my Dad's story as a speaker at the 2016 AMA EXPO.

So if anyone out there knows Doug, please pass my email address on to him.  mikeleggett1@yahoo.com

thanks and
Keep 'em Flying,
Mike

Mike:

Doug’s call sign on this forum is A-D-Aero

The replica of his Dad’s Shining Hour is a heavily modified Wingspan 1/9 scale.

If you need further assistance getting in touch with him, I will ask his permission.

Keep the Faith!

Mark

Thanks Mark,  we have made contact through email.  His Dad got shot down a week later on another mission.  It was a big war.
