Over the winter I finished two new planes.  The first is an ESM Lavochkin LA-7.  The plane is flying with an XYZ 53cc twin engine.  Weight is 20 lbs.  This plane requires some extra care in landing.  You can't slow down too much or it will tip stall.  It has electric main and tailwheel retracts from Hobby King.

The second plane is a Top Flite giant scale P-47 built from a kit.  This one is using an EME 55 engine and Robart pneumatic mains and Hobby King electric tailwheel.  The engine had an electric starter but it has proven to be unreliable so I removed it.  The plane weighs less than 21 lbs and flys like a big trainer.  It has bomb drop capability, too.  It's covered with aluminum film from Hobby King and the decals are from Callie Graphics.

I've used different colors of HK film on several models and find it to be some of the easiest to use stuff I've experienced.  The aluminum I used is here: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__71956__Covering_F ilm_Bright_Silver_5mtr_406_AR_Warehouse_.html

It goes on easy, sticks tight, and shrinks well.  It has a grain and you can put it on in different orientations and it looks like real panels.  Cheap too at $11 for 5 meters.

I flew at Warbirds over Guthrie, OK last weekend.  Mike Pennell got some great shots of my latest 3D acro maneuver.
