Sure wish I could have been there!  Although I'm thinking my little Hellcat would have been woefully outclassed.  Still, it would have been fun and it looked like a fantastic flying field.  Congrats to all those who competed and particularly the RCSB "regulars" shown above.  Outstanding performances by all.

The news report that they showed Saturday morning on TV. If they had shown it Friday night they might have more attendance.
The F7F is a TOTALLY AWESOME airplane that Dennis flew. Please note the RCSB award says Radial, not Radials as in plural.
The right engine had a mechanical failure halfway through the flight. There was kind of a scarey right turn into the dead engine as Dennis Identified the problem, declared an emergency and made a very nice single engine landing so there was a happy ending.
I think it was the ONLY radials in competition. I am not sure what brand the engines are but some one said they are not currently being produced.

Larry the little Toot will be quite the project what will you power it with?
Thank you once again for the help with the field repairs.
I think I will be at Muncie. I am trying to get one of my helpers from last weekend to come up and fly in Fun Scale.
Gamma repairs are complete ready for some more practice flights.

Hello Larry B.

I am glad to hear that you and Brenda made it home without a problem and that Brenda's back is on the mend. During the first practice try learning the Fiat flip I hit myself in the mouth with the aileron but when it came time to do it for real during flight rounds 4 and 5 I think I did pretty well.

As for the tank; sir, set the armored vehicle down and step away. Scale aircraft is where your friends are.

Larry F.

The "Little Toot" will be a great subject for you competition build. Looking forward to seeing it next year. Unfortunately I won't have a new competition plane until 2016 at the earliest. I can tell you this. I am going back to basics. No retracts and no flaps, Maybe a functioning tail hook and a fuel tank drop but that's it.

As many have already stated the Scale Masters organization did a great job putting this event together and I can’t say enough good things about the Ohio River View R/C Flyers club that hosted us. You would be hard pressed to find a friendlier and harder working bunch then those folks and their flying site is second to none.

Dennis is flying Robart radials in the Tigercat.

I just got off the phone with him and he was literally a moment or two from running the engine in question again, probably even doing so as I type this. It turns out that the issue was much less dramatic than the result and was readily addressed with a "quick" teardown and reassembly.

If today's ground runs and the subsequent test flights all go according to plan, he will be flying the Tigercat publicly again at the NASA contest in a couple weeks at Muncie.

I will let you know more when we talk again in the next few days.

Thayer

Thayer,
Great news that the fix was "easy" getting parts can be such a pain in the rear.
I need another TigerCat fix.
Rip you are a glutton for punishment.

Sparky.

Looking to use this, just need to save up the pennies.

Vogelsang did send me a data sheet with all of the dimensions so I can set the motor box and firewall up.

See ya in Muncie.

Larry
