I had planned to start a John Ostmeyer 1/5-scale T-28 Trojan; 98" Wingspan, 1438sq. in., 33 pounds, 85cc twin, having acquired the kit and most accessories, however Shindin has not yet finished the retracts, so I have put it aside until they are available. It is a very nice kit so I am frustrated!

I have instead decided to build an 83" Bert Baker BT-13 Vultee Valiant ("Vibrator") kit I acquired quite recently, as the Navy version SNV-1. I have found everything for it including a set of Robart gear (out-of-production but still available by special order),wheels with brakes, a DLE-35RE, servos, Flite-Metal, etc. This is a fiberglass fuselage and balsa-sheeted foam wing construction, and has many scale building challenges! I will start a thread on it in

a couple of weeks.

Also re-working a 110" semi-scale Curtis Robin that is overweight (will get new covering, servo relocation to eliminate nose weight), needs real flaps (!), and will upgrade the engine from 85cc twin to 116cc high-performance twin for more aerotowing grunt. The Giant Scale Sailplane models keep getting larger so we have to step up! How large one might ask? In California typically 5 to 6 meter wingspan with 7 and 8 meter getting popular, weights 25 to 55 pounds.

Anyone interested in seeing a Giant Scale Sailplane build?

My 2015 Winter Projects are: 1/4 Franklin 'Eaglet' (in 'scale sailplanes' forum), 1/4 RRG 'Professor', 1/4 Haines H-3 'Mystery' racer and 1/6 Pietenpol Air Camper from full scale plans. Just thought I'd revive a cool thread!

I am currently working on a group scratch build Vought V-173 Flying Pancake(see invertmast's thread in the scratch build section).  I also have a long term Vought Chance F4U-1A project which has also morphed into extensive research to create the most accurate drawing of the plane that I can.  I also have a ME262 to get going on.

Finishing 64" Oscar dwgs.  Expect it to fit in my Ranger without disassembly.  Fuse outline and sections pretty much done.  Wing drawn out, airfoil done.  Next, get copies and start cutting.

I recently finished plans for a 110" (23.5% scale) Kawasaki Ki-100-1-KO. Drawings were sent to Pat Falacaro at LaserCut USA.

I made two sets of plans. One is for a one piece wing (mine) and the second for a two piece wing that was requested by my friend Mark Armbrust.(marmbrust). He suggested that we each build one in tandem on the site. 

We recently received all the cut parts. As soon a we both complete our current projects, we will get started on the Ki-100.

I will be using an Evolution 160 Radial for power and Mark will be using a DLE 120. Gear has been made by Al Zuger at Custom Retracts in Australia and I have mine in hand. Tail wheel assembly and main gear wheel by Robart. Japanese pilot is being custom made by Axel's Scale Pilots.

I am using selfdrawn plans to do a scratched, 80" model of the "original" Spitfire that Mitchell designed, the Supermarine 224.  Only one was built and eventually rejected by Ministry...was used for target practice.  My winter vacation in FL stops all major construction, but I will work on plug for F/G spats if it warms up here in Daytona.  I was able to modify cowl from my 65" Spit molds to fit the front end of 224.  That saved a bunch of work.
