It is 'Italian Vintage Sailplanes' by Vincenzo Pedrielli with nice 3-view illustrations by Franceso Camastra. Get it before it is too late to avoid the 'wailing and gnashing of teeth' later. It is in Italian AND English so doubles as a language instruction manual .

I have since revised what my next 'vintage' build will be because of it so stay tuned!
In particular I'm looking for some 3 views or drawings of their J-7 Reo cabin monoplane. other than a couple of photos, there is next to nothing on this plane out there. that's odd to me since this plane had a few significant first accomplishments. not evdn a rubber powered model out there as far as I can tell.

I'm waiting to see if the Hiller aviation museum might have something, as well as the Jacuzzi company (not hopeful on that one at all since they are no longer family owned from what I can tell).

So does anyone know of any 3 views on their planes that were published in anything like AAHS, early issues of MAN, etc...?

Brian Tayl0r AT6 / Harvard

Hi All

This thread is not about telling you guys what a nice guy I think Dino is.. It's about building a fiberglass fuselage plug for a 100" Ki-61 "Tony"!

I love Japanese aircraft, and the "Tony" is one of my favorites. Of course having so much free time I volunteered to build the 100" fuselage plug for this new Meister Scale model.

And before you ask.. No, I have no idea when it will be available, how much it will cost, or what the all up weight of the model will be. Shoot Dino an email or PM here on the site and I'm sure he can answer your questions.

Also, this will not a be a highly descriptive thread simply because there is not much to describe here. However, I thought it might be interesting to show how to build a model in a jig, so let's get started.

First here is the jig and fuse plan laid out on one of my building tables. The key here is to make sure every thing is straight, level, and you have a good centerline. All risers are exactly 230 mm tall (just enough to let the lowest former clear). The build will go as follows...

1. Align and tack all formers to the risers. run the side stringers down the sides of the fuse. Then run the top fuse crutch.

2. The top of the fuse will be strip planked.

3. The fuse removed from the jig and the bottom crunch installed and strip planked.

And before you ask the reason it will be strip planked and won't be sheeting is because of the LACK of structure to support bending sheeting around. However, I will sneak some in where ever I can.

Here is a shot of the formers laid out...

More to come this week as I get the formers measured and tacked onto the risers. It took a good week to build the jig and get it perfectly straight. That time spent being meticulous will pay off in a nice straight fuselage plug.

Stay Tuned!

HELLO!
